Getting Started With Reference

In This Section:

  • An introduction to reference sources, print and online

Reference sources are a good starting point.

These materials can

  • Provide background information
  • Get you familiar with terms and keywords and related topics for a particular subject
  • Help you choose, broaden, or narrow a research topic

Preus Library has print and online reference sources. The print reference books are located near the Research and Technology Help Desks on the main floor of the library, between the computer lab and the Writing Help Center. Take a look at this page for a few print reference sources on vegetarianism and animals.

Search the print collection:

  • Select the "Reference" tab of the search box area on the Library website and enter your search terms
  • Visit the Library and browse the shelves
