The work covers the history of psychology, theoretical concepts, research, application, development and change. In addition to topics in psychology, relevant interdisciplinary topics are included

A 4 volume work, the encyclopedia covers nine general areas of interest, including sub-fields of the discipline, concepts and subjects, cultural regions, issues relating to the profession, linguistics, and other related items.

The articles describe institutions, people, processes, philosophies, and roles of education. The articles of the second edition of the 8 volume encyclopedia include global perspectives and influences of contemporary society, as appropriate.
