Preus Library and the Luther Student Senate have collaborated to bring you free, online access to the New York Times through its website (http://www.nytimes.com). This is available to all Luther College students, staff, and faculty (including emeriti).
To access the New York Times, you must first create and register an account.
If you've never created an account at the New York Times before, simply go to the registration page and click on the Create Account button:
To register enter your email address (we recommend using your Luther email address), set a password, and select your role (student or faculty/staff). Students will enter their expected graduation date, and will have access through September of that year. (Note: if you plan to graduate in December, you should put your expected graduation date as the following year, to ensure that you have access your last semester.)
If you already have an account with the New York Times site, but are not currently in a paid subscription, go to the account registration page and click the link that says Already Have an Account? Log in Here >>
If you are currently in a paid subscription for New York Times online, you must cancel your current subscription by contacting the New York Times. Call or e-mail: edu@nytimes.com 1-800-698‑4637.
Once you've canceled your existing subscription, you may come back and follow the Already Have an Account? registration link.
Staff and faculty (including emeriti) can create or register accounts as above. These accounts will need to be re-certified every 12 months. When your pass runs out, simply go back to the registration page and follow the Already Have an Account? registration link.
