Paideia 112 Research Unit

A step-by-step guide to the Research Paper Unit in Paideia 112.

Preparing for Your Conference

All Paideia students will have an individual conference with their instructor. Your instructor will hand out a schedule for you to select a conference time.

Use Worksheet 10: Self-Evaluation of Research Paper (see Home: Worksheets 1-10) to prepare your written self-evaluation before your instructor conference.

Your instructor will read the paper carefully, evaluate it as a reflection of your understanding of the research process, and talk to you in conference about aspects of the paper that need revisions to make the paper more clear and competent as college-level research writing.

You will have seven class days to revise the paper after your conference. You should check with your instructor to learn the specific weight of the first and final draft of the paper in relation to your overall course grade.

The Grading Rubric

Paideia instructors will use the criteria in the rubric found in the Paideia Reader to evaluate your paper.  A copy of the rubric is also available at the Barry Writing Center in Preus Library.
